Kevin Pearsh

1951 -

Born in 1951 in Melbourne, Australia, Kevin Pearsh is an artist with a great international reputation. Studying in both Australia and Switzerland, Kevin moved to London in 1972 and at the age of twenty-five had works within the permanent collections of the Tate Gallery.

Kevin Pearsh's work is infused with an obsession with light, reflection and perception. His travels around India influenced his palette of colours and his resulting studies of Kerala and Tamil Nadu were purchased by Air India.

In 1982 Kevin was commissioned by Robert H. Thayer to paint his 12th century chateau at Chaudenay in central France. It was to be the start of an amazingly intense relationship, Kevin creating a studio within one of the chateau's towers. Upon the death of Robert H. Taylor, Kevin inherited the chateau de Chaudenay and lives there to this day, his works going toward the enormous costs of maintaining one of the most romantic castles in France.

In the early 1990's Kevin visited Tasmania and was overcome by the power and beauty of the waterfalls. This brought about a new phase of his work where water becomes the catalyst for his visions of fragmented glances at surface appearance and reflection. It is this mix of extreme beauty, power and perception which makes Kevinís work so very distinctive; an artist who can combine elemental forces to produce an image suffused with serenity.

In addition to the Tate Gallery, London Kevin's works are within the permanent collections of the Fitzwilliam Museum Cambridge and the Santa Barbara Museum in California.
